Terumo BCT led a series of high-level discussions at the Rainbow Room in New York City. These discussions explored solutions to blood safety and maternal health issues in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). I was requested by Terumo Cell and Blood Technologies and honored to travel to N.Y. to photograph the event. Outcomes since the event: 1. KNBTs collected 3774 pints of blood across the country against the targeted 3000 pints. The three-day drive saw numerous people register to give blood and many inquiries on the initiative. 2. There has been significant interest in partnership opportunities with CoBA from other partners following the blood drive. 3. The CoBA social media account grew significantly, with the @AfricaCoBA account reaching over 374,820 unique users before, during, and after the blood drive. On April 20th, 2021, I was presented with the yearly TOPs award from Terumo BCT for my efforts on this project. In addition to taking photos at the event, I also created the backdrop, signage, and the emails.
